About Kenmare

AN NEIDÍN — “The Little Nest”

Kenmare is a casual coastal town in
County Kerry, in the southwest countryside
of Ireland, with a relaxed, friendly,
come-as-you-are vibe.

It is a highlight of the Wild Atlantic Way,
Ireland’s spectacular West Coast scenic
coastal route, as well as a cornerstone
of the famous Ring of Kerry.

Kenmare is as endearing as it is unfussy,
free-spirited, and spontaneous in
all the best ways – one of those rare,
familiar small postcard towns where its
generous hospitality is as pervasive and
evident as its pub scene.

WHY KENMARE?

Gillian’s dad Gerry grew up ~40 minutes south of Kenmare on the beautifully rural Beara Peninsula, in a small fishing village called Ardgroom, on a farm as the 12th of 13 kids. Kenmare is a mile-marker along the journey down south to Beara, as well as a must-see town along the world-renowned Ring of Kerry.

Ever since then, the Murphys and their ever-expanding crew (here’s lookin’ at you, Jack), return each summer to this special corner of the world to visit family at the annual regatta + reunion, celebrate life, and soak in the raw and wild beauty of this spectacular, ancestral land.

ADVENTURE AWAITS

Hike the looming hills, visit the colorful fishing villages and their surrounding natural wonders, cold plunge in the sea from its rocky beaches, golf some breathtaking courses, scout out the best local fish & chips or tea & scone combos, shop the many local artisans’ masterworks, cap your nights with the Perfect Pint of Stout complete with trad tunes at the local watering hole.

Lose service, breathe in the sweet country air, maybe get stuck behind a farmer herding his cattle on a narrow one-lane road with no name,…

Kenmare is your oyster! Make some memories and enjoy the ride.

HOW DO I PACK?

In the rustic, coastal spirit of Kenmare, event dress codes and packing suggestions are casual and whatever you feel best in – come as you are, with stories or songs, and stay for a pint and some laughs with friends and family, new and old.

Word to the wise: pack in layers for the moodswinging island weather, bring sweaters to cozy up the evenings, rainslickers, and extra socks ;). Extra boots or sneakers if you plan to hike mountains or trek the Ring of Kerry. Portable umbrellas if you dislike singin’ in the rain.

In the same spirit, wedding dress code is Cocktail Attire.
